The PRS SE Swamp Ash Special Charcoal adds new interesting tone colors to the popular SE series from Paul Reed Smith. For this purpose, the instrument relies on a body made of contrasting grained swamp ash, which in interaction with the screw neck made of maple defines the basic sound character of the instrument. Thanks to the wide-thin neck profile and the traditional 10" fingerboard radius, the instrument offers classic playability on all 22 frets. The tonal possibilities of the three-pickup HSH setup are particularly diverse: two PRS 85/15 "S" humbuckers in neck and bridge position produce proven sounds, while the PRS-designed AS-01 single-coil in middle position combines alnico and steel sounds and is a fitting complement in the intermediate positions. The additional sound options in the interaction between humbuckers and single coil pickup can be switched here via the push / pull function of the tone control.
